Speaking of Poetry...

So I'm teaching my 9th graders about Limericks, and today I was trying to have them write their own. No one was getting the whole thing with the rhyme scheme and rhythm, so I did one on the board with them. No one would volunteer to be the subject of the poem, so I subjected myself. This is what they came up with:

We once had a teacher, Miss Byrne
She frowned if you talked out of turn
She gave us detention
For not paying attention
But it's just 'cause she wants us to learn.

Not bad, eh?

P.S. You may have noticed my switch in title format... I'm kind of sick of the "The One With..." thing, but I'll probably revert back to it once in awhile if I am feeling un-creative.
